Secured Equipment Policy

During Business Hours

At Russell Landscape, our policy mandates that all equipment not in active use and not physically in possession of a crew member must be stored and secured in the weed eater racks and cages, with cable, chains and locks, on the designated Russell truck.

Overnight Hours

Russell Landscape has established strict policies to ensure the security of all equipment used on jobsites. For Russell Landscape branches that have access to secured yards, the equipment should be locked down on the trucks that are housed outside. Weed eater racks will be used to house stick equipment such as weed eaters, edgers and gas shears using factor designed weed eater rack locking mechanism and proper sized pad locks. If the rack doesn’t have locking mechanisms, cable or chain and pad locks will be used. The upper cages will be used to store blowers and other stick equipment when available. Upper cages will be locked with pad locks provided.

If a Russell Landscape branch lacks inside parking or secured yards, all trucks parked outside overnight must be unloaded of all equipment at the end of each workday and stored inside the shop or as such, all equipment during overnight hours must be securely housed within a locked building when not in use.

All managers, crew leaders, and crew members are expected to fully comply with these policies, as non-adherence may result in payroll deductions for the current replacement cost of all stolen equipment. In such cases, the replacement cost of the equipment will be divided equally among all crew members present on the subject truck the day of the theft. This policy has been implemented to safeguard the company’s valuable assets and to ensure the continued success of Russell Landscape.

Payroll Deduction Scale

The scale below will be used to determine the amount owed for stolen equipment.

  • Less than one year old – 100% of replacement cost
  • One to two years old – 2/3 of the replacement cost
  • Three years or older- 1/3 of the replacement cost

EXAMPLE:

Replacement Cost of Stolen Equipment: $2,500.00

Number of Crew on Truck:                     5

Payroll Deduction for Each Crew Member:  $500.00
